Almost everyone agrees. The quality of the source material––for any medium––is the most important part of any project. The foundation of everything. Agents, actors, singers, studio heads . . . they all know that great performances grow out of the writing. And yet, as a whole, writers are most celebrated within writer circles. By contrast (admitting my limited exposure to actors and other performers), these other artists are most criticized within their artistic circles, and celebrated out of them. While there is good and bad of everything, I must say that anyone who conceives an idea, is able to put it to paper and execute it somehow, and continues to develop their expression . . . these are the people who have my respect and admiration. Regardless of whether or not the world embraces it.
